Leaver is a bulgarian ambient/ drone duo, formed by Angel Simitchiev (Mytrip, Dayin) and Daniel Donchov (Expectations), with both having origins in the hardcore scene. Created around 3 years ago, with the idea of a project, placed somewhere between deep minimalist ambient and the intimacy of guitar based singer-songwriter music. By their own words, 'Leaver is dreams, letters and abandoned houses'... and it sounds exactly like that.
Recorded in only two nights, 'Head Home' is released today on tape and digital via Amek and Serpent Eve Records. The album splits solitude in two and lives on the borderline between the pieces. It's as fragile as the moment when silent talk is about to morph into warm silence. It's dark melancholy swallows you, yet some light crawls through the major keys of the two piano tracks - the opening 'No Hands' and the closing 'Under Your Fingers'. The instrumentation is kept minimalist to a guitar, voice, electronics, percussion and piano - and it's just the right for the music.
Leaver have been playing carefully selected gigs in the past three years, including Bucharest and live collaborations. The band is going on a UK tour from 29.April to 8.May, alongside nomadic musician Tim Holehouse and his project 'Raeppen'. Catch them on one of the following dates:
