The 6th edition of Noisy Sunday will welcome the master of noise Dave Phillips (CH) in Sofia, with support by |14| and a collaborative set by kràllàr and Mytrip.
Dave Phillips has been sonically active for about 30 years, appears on more than 200 releases and has played around 500 concerts in 40 countries. He re/searches and ponders existence and behaviourisms 'humanimalistically', the sound as a communication in direct and primal form, a language, a tool of metaphysics. His methods are audio de/construction, sonic rituals, psycho-acoustics, composition and performance. The tools are voice, body, electronics, field recordings, objects, video. The topics of the artist's interest are animal and human rights, environmental sensitisation, sentient awareness, with existentialist connotations.
Dave Phillips's current live set consists of mainly three acts - the 'live action', the 'video action' and the 'field recordings' - depending on the circumstances, he can play two of them at one event.
'We need nature - but nature doesn’t need us. That’s one of the more obvious areas of balance that we have to learn - soon, before we destroy our home...'
'How can 'art' fight? To me, the role of art has a particular importance: namely, to ask questions, to push boundaries, to offer new ideas, to inspire, to suggest new directions, and also to demand, provoke, and transgress, to invade comfort zones, to create unease, to trigger discourse, and exchange. It’s a role of great societal importance, with methods that aid the evolutionary process' - Dave Phillips in a recent interview for 'Heathen Harvest'.
The concert at the Czech Center will open with an electroacoustic set by |14| - a project of Nikolay Mitev, also known as part of the collaborative project |H|14|.
The date is 21st May (tomorrow). The gig will start at 8PM, the entry is 10 lv, at the doors only.
