'Dearest' is Smellycaт's first release (and hopefully not the last!) for Amek, a label from Sofia, Bulgaria, specifying in ambient, noise and drone genres. The double cassette features music, made in the past four years by the artist.
It's divided in four parts, titled 'coллarbones', '2015', 'light shines in yr room, nowhere else' & 'threehouse', and they are as short-lived, as they can get. The music is like colllages from the future (visible in the artwork), like a news feed of profound indifference, soaked with neon anime colors, lo-fi vaporwave vibes, Tumblr soft-porn and much appreciation for cats. Its sound will comfort you when the eyes are already hurting from playing video games or when you need something to wipe out their soundtracks from the back of your head, while trying to fall asleep... Smellycaт's personality remains a mystery, beside the description 'internet's saddest boy'. Obviously taking an inspiration from games, anime, cartoons and horror movies' soundtracks - you may recognize the samples in 'maria' from 'Silent Hill 2', or Toto's 'Africa' in 'fall', both tracks on side B. My personal preferences are for side 3, for its bright-ish synth sounds.
