Wazzup rockers!
I know it's been awhile since my last post but I was busy... attending concerts :-D
I know, I know it's hard but somebody gotta do it. Luckily for you that man is ME :-)
And I got plenty to tell you about. Like for instance my very first exposure to psychobilly. The band I'm gonna tell you about ain't the first of it's kind to come to Bulgaria but was the first psychobilly band I saw. The name of the band is as you've probably already guessed The Silver Shine from Budapest, Hungary.
To be honest the whole psychobilly thing wasn't all that new to me. Before Silver Shine I got a basic idea what to expect from one such band which is basically a combination of old rhythm and blues, country, punk and a bunch of other styles as well. Well it's like Elvis Presley meets the Ramones.
Now back to The Silver Shine. Well prior to the concert I've heard one or two songs which sounded good. So I head straight to the Fans Club to see the hungarians. About a two-hours delay they started. At first I was unsure what to expect so I just watched patiently. One song after another came and go and with that I realized that their music is quite good. With the minutes passing I started to like more and more psychobilly witch pretty soon escalated in out-of-control headbangin' in rhythm with Furo's drumming. One thing worth mentioning is Ati Edge' stage behavior. Well the guy went berzerk at one point and jumped out of the stage and into the crowd while continuing to play guitar. That motherfucker definitely knows how to drive a crowd into a frenzy. But my eyes were set on one person only and that was the upright bass player Krista Kat. Well sorry but she's a girl and so on... Such sightings are worth being in front of the stage. Fuck, she's good with that big piece of wood :-D
Good thing was that the band had a free date in their european tour so they played for the second time in Swingin' Hall. What can I say. If the first night was great the second was even better. And I get to take a photo with Krista for the second time. YAY!
Anyway in overall it was two great nights full of crazy R&R songs, sweat, headbanging, pogoing and smiles. Damn, how can one not love the hungarians after two such night.
The Silver Shine are:
