Polaris

Polaris is one of those super-unknown bands that you've probably never heard of or will heard of. And that'll be a shame as the band itself is quite good and it's music is a reminiscent of that good old nineties sound which was synonymous with a whole generation of great indie bands. Alas that sound is forever lost or at least it's very hard to come by these days. Polaris is actually Miracle Legion, indie band from New Heaven, Connecticut, minus one of it's core members. I gotta admit that I found out about Polaris completely by accident and because of the weirdest tv show I've seen so far, The Adventures of Pete & Pete. That show although with a charm sometimes puzzles me as I sometimes struggle to understand some of the episodes. And yet I find it cute and different from anything I've seen. So what the connection between the two? Well Polaris' song "Hey Sandy" is featured as the show's main theme song and the band's music is prominently featured in the show. Other notable music acts in the show includes Luscious Jackson, Miracle Legion, Drop Nineteens, The Apples in Stereo, Nice and Racecar. I recommend all of these as their sound is unique and rarely can be heard anywhere nowadays. As of Polaris their catchy indie-pop is sure to be noticed by the connoisseurs of fine indie music. If you're one such person then don't miss this band.
