In Bulgaria rarely happens something big. Something that attracts lots of people and brings foreign bands. Well last night one such thing happened. The Summer Ska Fest came and go. The first ever ska festival in Bulgaria and probably on the Balkans. It definitely wasn't something to be missed as it brought together bands that otherwise you won't see sharing one stage. What I can say about the whole thing is that it was a damn good fest. There was a clear excitement in the air during the whole fest. As it was a first if it's kind the fest got the attention of people from far and abroad. From my humble observations there were no disappointed people left. There were people from all ages - from the teenies that probably got no clue what is all about to the "real" skinheads dressed in their casual clothes. It was a real fun to witness all that. It was a great fest and I hope that it'll happen again.
Special mentions goes to several bands. First one is Sofia Ska Skins who opened the fest and were probably one of the better bands present at the fest. La Muchedumbre are another band that put up a good show performing song from their debut album "Dog To Die". Svetlio & The Legends although by my humble opinion not as good as Svetlio's previous band Hipodil definitely moved the crowd with their energetic performance. They were also the only bulgarian band to be brought for a bis. As for the the foreign acts they were all good but one band made me a stronger impression - 63 High from Greece. They were really good and during their set never let the crowd to stand and watch.
In overall I think that the fest went really well and most of the people enjoyed it. As for me I was happy to be there. I wonder if next year there gonna be a second ska fest.
The bands that attended the fest were (in no particular order):
BIBI RIBOZO AND THE BANDITOS (Poland)
STEFF TEJ TRIO (France)
SVETLIO & THE LEGENDS (Bulgaria)
63 HIGH (Greece)
SOFIA SKA SKINS (Bulgaria)
UNDER AUTHORITY OF (Belgium)
LA MUCHEDUMBRE (Bulgaria)
SENIOR BUFFO AND THE SYNCHRONIZERS (Bulgaria)
